Lauren & Fuad’s intimate beach wedding in Kill Devil Hills, NC
You may remember Lauren and Fuad from their adventure engagement session in Joshua Tree this past spring. I had the pleasure of working with this San Diego couple prior to their wedding in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and knew their wedding was going to be epic. These two Maryland natives actually met in San Diego by chance and were inseparable ever since. They choose to have an intimate wedding back East to make it easier on family and go back to place where Fuad used to vacation with family growing up. Leading up to the wedding it has been such a pleasure getting to know these two as they kept up with my van ventures and helping plan their wedding day. They rented a beautiful home to hold the back yard laid back event and host some of their guests. They flew in with their pup, Buster, and started getting everything together. The event was truly a great get together for their closest friends and family. Fuad’s dad made their arch, their cousin officiated the wedding, a friend helped coordinate the day of events and friends helped cook the crab feast.
Lauren and Fuad got ready separately while hanging out with friends and family. They chose to do a private vow/letter reading before the ceremony as apart of their first look and gift giving. Then we set out to the beach for fun family and friends portraits. Before the ceremony Lauren and Fuad spent a few minutes with their pup who had sadly gotten stung by a bug on the beach and wasn’t able to attend the ceremony. The ceremony was super sweet and kept simple so guests could enjoy themselves and get the chance for everyone to share quality time together. The sunlight shown on Lauren and Fuad as they finished up their vows, the only time during the day that we saw the sun. It felt like such a warm special moment. Before we started their couples portraits we took a photo of the entire group of guests at the ceremony location to capture everyone that had come together for this special occasion, some traveling from afar! Lauren and Fuad had set aside about 45 minutes for their couples portraits, which you know I am huge fan! I love when couples take the time to be together, just the two them, to connect and enjoy their wedding day.
After we returned to the reception it was game on for the crab feast! Laurent and Fuad had talked a lot prior to the wedding about keeping everything casual and a day that is true to them. They caught up with friends and family and enjoyed themselves rather than doing a lot of the forced traditions of a lot of weddings. The guests really enjoyed cooking the crabs and eating them. They had also set up their own bar with delicious sangria and spirits for everyone. Before the sun went down we set back out to the beach for some last portraits and time together. Upon returning back to the party many of the guests took their turn to toast the bride and groom, one of my favorite parts of a wedding. Family and friends both hit on a note of how much these two were a perfect match for each other, their personalities bringing out the best in each other. Fuad’s brother talked a lot about how he knew Fuad had found his one shortly after meeting Lauren. It was so beautiful to hear the kind words and see the loving support these two have surrounding them from friends on the West coast and family on the East coast. As the night started coming to an end guest enjoyed local donuts from Duck’s Donuts and many came together to help in the “sparkler exit.” The celebration was for sure not over though, they all celebrated into the night their way. The next day they shared more time with friends and family before heading up North to Maryland to see more family before heading back home as husband and wife to San Diego.
I feel so blessed that Lauren and Fuad found me and hired me to photograph their wedding. They have the kindest, sweetest love for each other. Lauren and I chatted before leaving the wedding just sharing a moment of gratitude for each other and chatting how the right things just always seem to fall into place. I could not imagine a more perfect day for these two to share their love together and with the closest folks in their life. I wish them many, many years of happiness and I can’t wait to see them again some day in San Diego <3
